BTS are still struggling to get their heads around the success of their new single Dynamite as it shot to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The boy band are the first South Korean act to top the chart, a goal they have had for a long time.

It comes after a hugely successful night at the MTV Video Music Awards, which saw them take home four Moon Person trophies and perform Dynamite for the first time.

In a press conference on Wednesday morning, rapper Suga confessed he is struggling to believe what they have achieved with the song.

‘I’m still having a hard time accepting its real,’ he told Metro.co.uk and other press.

‘We talked a lot, we often said [we want] no 1 on the hot 100, this is something we’d like to have. It’s not like we worked hard just to reach this goal, but it feels like a dream we have reached this goal.’

The members first heard about the achievement when RM shared an image of the chart in their group chat.

Jungkook said he didn’t believe it at first either: ‘I wasn’t sure if this webpage I was looking at was really real, I was out of it for a little bit. It’s really our ARMY who has helped us reach this milestone and make this achievement.’

Meanwhile Suga said their next goal in their career is a BTS stage at the Grammys, and possibly even a win.

The group previously joined rapper Lil Nas X on stage this year as part of his performance of his viral hit Old Town Road.

Suga said: ‘I have to mention our performance on the Grammy awards stage. We did a collaboration performance but I would like to do a BTS stage and to win an award.

‘But we need a lot of help from a lot of people, so for now just performing on the Grammy award stage [is the goal].’

RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jungkook, Jimin, Jin and V are not slowing down any time soon. Next up is an appearance on America’s Got Talent, and then no doubt back to work on their new album.
