Bruno Fernandes is ‘angry’ Manchester United’s offer to sign him was rejected by Sporting Lisbon, according to reports.
The Red Devils have been in hot pursuit of the midfielder all transfer window, and were hoping to complete a deal for him last week.
Sporting allegedly dug their heels in to ensure Fernandes would be available to play in Friday night’s derby defeat by Benfica.
It was then assumed the transfer would take place, as multiple reports claim Fernandes has agreed personal terms with Manchester United.
But a transfer is yet to materialise, and a new report claims Fernandes has become ‘angry’.
According to Duncan Castles, who provided an update on the deal on The Transfer Window podcast, negotiations have hit a wall this week with the two clubs failing to agree on a fee.
Manchester United reportedly want to spend no more than £42.5million up front, with add-ons that could see the deal rise as high as £68million.
These bonuses will be triggered should the midfielder finish in the top three for the Ballon d’Or or United win the Premier League or Champions League with Fernandes in the team.
But Sporting are believed to want a minimum £55.3million up front, and aren’t happy that the various add-ons are largely unrealistic.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas is reported to have explained the current situation with Manchester United to Fernandes.
He informed the 25-year-old that the club will not be accepting an offer that doesn’t meet their valuation.
Fernandes is said to have responded angrily to the phone call, reminding the club president that he stayed loyal in the summer and should now be allowed to leave.
