Bruce Springsteen's high-profile Jeep advert 'axed' after drink-driving arrest

The singer has famously turned down appearances in commercials over the course of his decades-long career, but his manager Jon Landau, revealed the decision for him to take part in Jeep’s ad was entirely “spontaneous” and came after years of the company courting him.

Landau told Rolling Stone magazine that despite it being his first ad, the hit-maker had a heavy hand in the commercial’s artist direction, explaining its script was “substantially revised by Springsteen” and that he also had an input in the final edit.

He added that Springsteen “controlled every second of what you see and hear, and that’s why it feels so personal”.

TMZ reports the singer is due to appear in court coming weeks.
