Bruce Jones: Les Battersby star hits out at Corrie viewers ‘It really gets on my nerves’


Bruce Jones played taxi driver Les Battersby in Coronation Street from 1997 to 2007. The actor has now spoken out about life after the cobbles, revealing what fans do that “really does get on my nerves”.

In an interview with the Daily Star, the 66-year-old said he is still known to some by his character’s name not his own.

The former soap star said that despite saying goodbye to the cobbles more than 12 years ago, nothing has changed.

“Les’s character will never go,” Bruce, who has also appeared in the likes of Heartbeat and Roughnecks, commented.

He continued: “I sometimes say, ‘My name’s not Les, it’s Bruce’.

He said in a statement: “I have had a fantastic time at Coronation Street but the time has come to move on and try my hand at other things.

“I have already had some very exciting offers and am looking forward to what the future holds.”

Since then he has popped up in celebrity editions of Come Dine With Me and Big Brother, as well as several pantomimes.

Bruce is set to return to screesn in a new Netflix documentary on the Yorkshire Ripper.
