Browns x Sara Shakeel: a crystal-dusted capsule collection

Award winning Pakistani artist Sara Shakeel might just be the blingiest image-maker on Instagram.

The dentist-turned-artist gained notoriety for ‘breaking the Internet multiple times via unique digital collages which superimpose crystals on photographs and famous images and paintings.

And with a following of 895k, it would seem we have all fallen for her digital, and more recently, three-dimensional digital works.

And this week, Browns will host an exhibition in its South Molton Street store of some of her most championed sculptures, including ‘The Great Supper’ which was commissioned by the NOW gallery in London.

But that’s not the best part. Browns has also created a capsule collection of Shakeel merchandise, that showcases her work across hoodies, t-shirts, skate decks and jewellery and goes on sale this week alongside the sculptures.

“These artworks have been a signature style of mine for 2.5 years,” Shakeel tells the Standard. “They’ve gone viral, shared by the world, talked about it and this is what everyone have been wanting for so many years.” 

Browns will also be auctioning some of her artworks at the store on the December 6, in partnership with online auction house Paddle8.

Shakeel describes the feeling of seeing her artworks come to life as “surreal.”

“My beginnings are humble, I don’t have an art background or come from the art world! I have created my artworks from a pure feeling. I was once going through and decided to share it on Instagram for the world to experience and little did I know I had so many people with similar feels – wanting to wear and be a part of my artworks!

“To see my artworks come to life and be a part of everyone else journey is humbling and a dream come true.”
