Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8 confirmed

Well that was quick. Not willing to abide by silly things like “the passage of time,” NBC has gone ahead and ordered Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8 before the show’s seventh season has even premiered.

NBC broke the news to the world and to the cast via a table read sneak attack that has now become the norm for Brooklyn Nine-Nine season renewals.

Look at sweet Terry Crews in the back, standing up to toss in script in the air, then worrying that he got too hyped and sitting back down.

But Crews and the rest of the cast’s enthusiasm is warranted. Renewals of any kind, let alone renewals that come months before the current season debut, used to be a torturous affair for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast and crew. The show has always been produced by NBC, but spent the first five years of its life on Fox, who wasn’t always generous in renewing the show in a timely fashion. It’s only when Fox opted not to renew the show altogether following its fifth season, that NBC swooped in to pick up its comedic offspring. Now here we are: Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine was created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, with Goor having served as showrunner for the series entire run. Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Stephanie Beatriz, Melissa Fumero, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon make up the cast of police officers at Brooklyn’s 99th precinct.

Oh, and here’s that Brooklyn Nine-Nine Backstreet Boys clip you’ve been meaning to watch again…

Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 7 premieres with an hour-long block of episodes on February 6, 2020 at 8 p.m. before settling into its 8:30 p.m. timeslot the following week.
