Brits 2020: Billie Eilish breaks down in tears as she accepts award after revealing she feels ‘hated’


BILLIE Eilish broke down in tears tonight and admitted she has felt “hated recently” during an emotional speech at the Brit Awards 2020.

Singing sensation Billie, 18, scooped the award for International Solo Female Artist but found herself in tears as she collected her well-deserved statue.

It came hours after she revealed she had quit social media due to nasty internet trolls sending her hurtful comments.

Billie, who had performed the new Bond Theme No Time To Die a short while earlier, told the Brits crowd: “I just wanna say something I was thinking two seconds ago.

“I’ve I’ve felt very hated recently and when I was on the stage and I saw you guys all smiling at me, it genuinely made me want to cry…

With her voice breaking as the emotion got too much, she added: “…and I wanna cry right now, so thank you.”

Billie was then swept up into a giant hug by Spice Girl Mel C, who had presented her with the award.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Can’t believe we’ve seen billie eilish crying again tonight because she feels she doesn’t deserve the award and feels hated? that girl is so talented and deserves so much honestly give her some love.”

Another added: Billie Eilish crying touched my heart. You are not hated, unique and pure talent #Brits2020.”

A third tweeted: “@billieeilish got me crying watching the brits. She’s so talented and a true star. Nobody should be made to feel hated. This world needs so much more love #Brits2020.”

In an interview with BBC Breakfast on the morning of the Brit Awards, Billie admitted she had stopped using social media platforms to interact with fans just days ago.

The star said: “I stopped reading comments because it was ruining my life.

“It’s weird, the cooler things you get to do, the more people hate you. It’s crazy.”

The BBC’s Louise Minchin then asked Billie what could be done to banish trolls from being able to operate.

But she replied: “I don’t know dude. Cancel culture is crazy. The internet is just a bunch of trolls.

“A problem is that a lot of it is really funny. I think that’s the issue, I think that’s why nobody really stops.”

Meanwhile, Billie’s debut performance of No Time To Die absolutely blew fans away.

The teenager wore all black and belted out the Bond Theme, which is taken from the new film of the same name, while sat next to a pianist.

There was certainly no hate for Billie on social media, with fans applauding her online in their droves.
