Britney Spears spotted on her phone in luxury SUV amid #FreeBritney movement by fans

Britney Spears was spotted in an SUV in Los Angeles on Tuesday amid growing concerns from fans that she is being held against her will by her team.

The pop superstar, 37, sat in the driver’s side of a white Mercedes G-Wagon as she spoke on her cell phone next to a mystery friend in the passenger seat.

And the outing comes after the Toxic singer was released from a mental health facility last week after a 30 day treatment.

Britney threw her trademark platinum tresses up in a high ponytail as she adjusted the rear view mirror after her phone call.

The sighting came amid the circulating social media hashtag #FreeBritney, that implied the singer is being controlled against her free will.

‘She is looking forward to keeping her stress level as low as possible and to just relax,’ said a source according to a Friday report from Page Six.

The singer is reportedly still battling unresolved mental health issues, TMZ reports.

‘The singer was upset over an illness her dad was battling, made exponentially worse by the fact the meds she’d been taking for her mental illness stopped working.’ a source said at the time.

Fans have become increasingly concerned about Britney and her health after her former manager Sam Lutfi recently tweeted his commentary on the ongoing events surrounding the singer.

Britney spoke out in a video shortly after and insisted that ‘all is well’ and that she’ll be back in the limelight soon, while also hitting back at Lutfi.

‘I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!!’ Spears said. ‘There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said.’

She went on to call out Sam directly: ‘These fake emails everywhere were crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago… I did not write them.’

Britney continued: ‘He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address. My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment.’

Lutfi, via Twitter, denied having any access to Britney’s e-mail, saying he thought the remarks were put out by Britney’s camp for the purpose of distracting the public and focusing their ire toward him.

In 2009, a judge granted a restraining order preventing Lutfi from getting near Britney for three years.

Britney’s mental health issues first came to light in before including the 2007 incident when she shaved her head at a salon in the Tarzana suburb of LA and spent time in and out of a Malibu rehab centre.

In 2008, Britney sought treatment before being hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

As a result, a judge ruled that her ex Kevin Federline would have sole custody of their two young sons, Sean and Jayden.

Shortly after, she was committed to the psychiatric ward of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and put on 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold.

The court then placed her under temporary – and later permanent – conservatorship of her father Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet, giving them complete control over her assets before she was released five days later.

Britney tried to reassure her fans that all is well earlier this month with a video post - but her followers weren't convinced
