BRITNEY Spears claimed she was silenced and threatened by her team during her public breakdown in a newly revealed letter.
The singer told how she was “lied to and set up” by the people allegedly “controlling her life” at the height of her troubles in 2008.

The accusations were made in a letter which was reportedly penned by Britney – writing in the third person – in 2008 after she lost custody of her two sons.
It was published by Dailymail.com amid fresh concerns about Britney’s wellbeing after rumours emerged that the Toxic singer was being held against her will.
In the note, Britney admits she did spiral out of control after her kids were taken away following the breakdown of her marriage to Kevin Federline.
She was put on psychiatric hold in January of 2008 after locking herself in the bathroom and refusing to hand over her youngest son Jayden, then aged one.

Britney writes in the letter: “Her behavior when her children got taken away b/c of her locking herself in the bathroom is understandable considering her friend at the door kept telling her the cops are leaving don’t worry stay in the bathroom.
“She was lied to and set up. Her children were taken away and she did spin out of control which any mother would in those circumstances.”
Federline’s bodyguards had gone to Britney’s house to pick up Jayden and his older brother Sean, then aged two.
But Britney, who was aged 26 at the time, refused to give them up – despite a court order to do so.
Cops then arrived and found Britney under the influence of an unknown substance.

She was later taken out of her home on a gurney by paramedics and taken to a local hospital, where she was placed under medical evaluation.
Britney is understood to have written the letter in an attempt to tell her side of the story.
She Britney also took aim at her family and the people who were making money off her.
She writes: “Now this year Britney has been silenced to speak about anything that’s really going on.
“The people controlling her life have made 3 million dollars this year.”
Britney also claims she felt “constantly threatened” that the conservators will take her kids away.
Her dad Jamie Spears was granted conservatorship – which gives him approval over her personal and financial affairs – following her 2007 breakdown.
He is widely credited with saving her life back in 2008 when the singer was off the rails and shaved her head.
But Britney, 37, now wants to take back some control over her life and make her own decisions.
The star reportedly asked a judge for “more freedom” in a hearing about her conservatorship.
Her mum, Lynne Spears, is also understood to be trying to gain access to her daughter’s medical records after fans claimed the singer was being “held against her will” in rehab.
After listening to Britney and both of her parents speak in the unusual LA court appearance earlier this month, Judge Brenda Penny ordered an expert evaluation of the 37-year-old singer’s situation.
The so-called 730 expert evaluation is a competence examination that is usually used for parents in divorce cases.

It’s understood that Britney checked herself in after struggling to cope with her father Jamie’s illness.
Her boyfriend Sam Asghari picked her up from rehab at the end of last month following her 30-day treatment.
The Slave 4 U hitmaker broke her silence to reassure fans that “all is well” following speculation about her health.
She also finally addressed the fan theories that she was being held against her will.
In an emotional video posted on Instagram, the singer thanked fans but said that rumours had “got out of control”.
She said: “All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal. But don’t worry, I’ll be back very soon.”
Britney also accused her ex-manager, Sam Lutfi, of sending fake emails pretending to be her, insisting: “I did not write them.”
“He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address.”
