Britney Spears' mother Lynne insists her daughter is doing 'wonderfully' despite her legal battle

Britney Spears may be at the center of a legal battle, but according to her loved ones, she’s doing just fine.

On Monday, TMZ caught up with the Gimme More hitmaker’s 64-year-old mother Lynne in Los Angeles to ask how Britney was coping. She assured them her daughter is doing ‘wonderfully.’

All the drama is the result of the 37-year-old pop siren trying to break free from her father, Jamie Spears’, 66, conservatorship.

A conservatorship is a ‘court case where a judge appoints a responsible person or organization to care for another adult who cannot care for himself or herself or manage his or her own finances,’ according to the California Judicial Branch.

In this instance, Jamie has controlled his daughter’s finances ever since her infamous public breakdown in 2007.

But now, the songstress is fighting to end all that.

The Toxic vocalist is currently at the centre of a social media campaign called “#FreeBritney”, which was set up by her fans in a bid to help her in the task.

Britney recently accused Jamie of committing her to a mental health facility against her will last month and forcing her to take drugs.

But, despite having to watch her life play out in public as she takes her father to court, Lynne – who wants to take a bigger role in the conservatorship if it remains in place – is adamant the talent is doing well.

When asked by TMZ photographers in Los Angeles on Monday how Britney was doing, Lynne simply replied: ‘Wonderfully.’

It was initially thought that the mother of two checked herself into an unnamed facility for 30 days after she became ‘distraught’ over her dad’s ongoing health battle.

Jamie’s struggles initially began when he ruptured his colon last November.

However, the pop superstar appeared in front of a judge last week and alleged that Jamie was the one responsible for having her committed to rehab.

She argued that under the rules of the conservatorship Jamie does not have the power to either commit her against her will or make her take prescription pills.

The hearing, which was attended by Britney, her parents and a court-appointed lawyer, was held to assess the need for the singer to remain under the conservatorship of her dad.

On Friday, Britney left the court in LA court barefoot and is understood to have asked for more freedoms under the conservatorship but the request was not granted during the closed doors hearing.

According to E!, the judge ordered an expert evaluation of Britney’s situation and a status hearing, the star doesn’t have to attend, was set for September 18.

Britney – who has two sons, Sean, 13, and Jayden, 12, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline – wants the conservatorship to end or to be granted more freedoms.

‘I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!!’ she wrote alongside the short clip of herself.

‘My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment. You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want!’ Britney added.
