British Steel tycoons living in houses worth £16million in UK's poshest streets

The men behind British Steel’s owner Greybull Capital live in properties worth £16million in some of London’s poshest spots.

They are Marc Meyohas, his brother Nathaniel, and co-director Daniel Goldstein.

Greybull is run from London offices above a Jimmy Choo store on Sloane Street, close to Harrods. Marc Meyohas owns a £3.66million house, while Nathaniel owns a townhouse that he bought mortgage-free in 2013. Zoopla estimates it is worth £6.35million.

Daniel Goldstein has a five-bed terrace also bought without a mortgage for £5million in 2008. Zoopla estimates that property, with gym and wine cellar, is worth £6.34million.

Greybull came under fire amid revelations that it charged British Steel £33.8million interest on loans at a rate of 9.6 per cent, according to Companies House.

Greybull charged £6million in management fees. Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen – who fears 700 locals could lose their jobs – said: “Greybull Capital have been complete sharks throughout this tragic process.”

Greybull was also involved in the downfall of Monarch Airlines and electricals chain Comet – costing the taxpayer an estimated £110million.

Nathaniel Meyohas has since exited the company but is still a major shareholder. Brother Marc has blamed Brexit uncertainty for the loss of customers.

He said: “We arranged £500million to invest in the business, we hired a new management team and the turnaround was starting to show success.”

Greybull said services it provided were “at below market rates to assist the company… no interest or dividend payments have been made to Greybull Capital from British Steel”.
