BRITISH Airways has flown into a fresh sexism row after warning its female cabin crew about wearing the wrong bras.

They accuse airline boss Alex Cruz for the lack of “dignity, respect and equality” suffered by female staff.

Diana Holland, from Unite, said crew members had been “managed for wearing the wrong colour or type of bra”. She added: “It is neither appropriate nor acceptable women should be put in a situation where they can be demeaned for their choice of undergarments.”

BA’s “mixed fleet” has already submitted a collective grievance for the right to wear trousers — while women working in cargo have to wear men’s uniforms as female ones are not available. Ms Holland added: “I have been advised men are not told what underwear to put on or how tight or baggy it should be.”

BA says underwear should not be visible through the blouse, but no colour or style are specified. The airline said staff have been consulted on a new uniform due in September.

Meanwhile, the boss of BA’s parent firm cashed in shares worth £3.5million yesterday to fund his divorce.

Willie Walsh, chief executive of International Airlines Group, informed the stock market the sale did not “reflect the view of business” and was instead to “meet an outstanding financial obligation to my ex-wife”.
