Britain's oldest bakery at 424 years old reinvents itself – visit the Devon establishment


With a new target market, Jacka now hopes to become the best in showcasing the best small and independent businesses across the South West.

2Chill user Faith Strickland gave the “cute little shop” in a grade II listed building on Southside Street five stars. She said: “The family-run shop was voted one of the best in the country, baking a range of classic breads, pastries and cakes daily.”

She added that it has a small deli section which “sells the likes of soups, milk and bacon – all perfect for a hearty lunch treat.”

But don’t threat about getting a chance to sample their freshly baked goods, Jacka’s products are used in several local restaurants and cafes across the city.

Just a six-minute walk to the UK’s largest aquarium, Plymouth’s National Marine Aquarium, visitors can grab a tasty treat on a day out.
