Britain’s Got Talent 2019: ‘It upsets me’ Simon Cowell fights tears over emotional act

Britain’s Got Talent viewers are well-used to seeing some incredible acts overcome immense adversity on the ITV show.

But on tonight’s instalment of BGT, it seems there will be one that makes even Simon Cowell fight tears.

This evening, Dave Wardell, a police officer, will bring along his service dog, Finn, in a bid to impress the judges.

Unlike many pooch acts, Dave and Finn attempt to do some mind-reading.

During the act, Dave shows the judging panel, which also includes Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon, a story about his pup’s life.

It soon transpires that little Finn, a German Shephard, is an incredible dog who has been through the worst possible ordeal.

A couple of years back, plucky Finn saved Dave’s life when he jumped in between his owner and a knifeman.

As a result, the dog was stabbed with a 10 inch blade, but risked his own life nevertheless.

Finn’s story is laid out for the judges and audience to watch and it’s safe to say there isn’t a dry eye in the house.

Simon leads praise for the pair once their act has finished and it seems he is overcome with emotion.

The music mogul explains: “If I had a Golden Buzzer left, I’d give it to you.”

Simon previously chose Kojo Anim as his Golden Buzzer act after wowing the audience with his comedic routine.

The judge continued: “When I hear about animal cruelty, especially dogs, it upsets me.

“A dog will literally give up its life for you. Finn’s beautiful, I love him.”

Simon can’t help himself and he pops up on stage to join the act and have a little cuddle with Finn.

Fans will have to wait and see if they manage to get through to the semi-finals on Britain’s Got Talent.

Dave and Finn have been in headlines previously, when the former lead a campaign in his dog’s name.

When the pooch was stabbed, the law only saw it as “criminal damage to property”, with Dave himself describing it as “like breaking a window”.

As a result, Dave and others are campaigning to change the law so it reflects the fact that dogs are living creatures, not just property.

Britain’s Got Talent continues tonight on ITV at 8pm.
