Brian May is beloved by his millions of fans and Instagram followers. He is not only a living music legend, but he also shares his life and thoughts on social media. May is famously sweet-natured and soft-spoken, with his fans constantly praising his gentle nature. However, he does fight passionately for the things he believes in and his fans are particularly important to him. Even so, it was extremely unusual to see him raise his voice and appear to get physical after an Australian news cameraman pushed him too far.
The encounter was later broadcast on the Australian 7news channel.
The newsreader told viewers: “Brian May and his entourage had just touched down for their Australian Tour and were posing for photos when he took exception to our Channel 7 camera.”
The footage shows the entire upsetting scene, culminating in the moment when 72-year-old May was posing with a teenage boy on the side of the pavement next to his parked car for a photo when he lost his temper.
The footage shows the Queen icon storming up to the cameraman and then the film footage shows the ground as the recording device makes a sudden movement. It appears May “allegedly swiped at the cameraman’s head” according to the 7news site.

May said; “Alright, this is going to get ugly. You put this down or else something ugly happens, do you understand?”
The cameraman put down his main camera but then started filming the star with his fans on his personal mobile phone.
7news tried to explain that his actions were just those of a “self-proclaimed Queen fan.”
May, along with a wave of supportive messages from fans, clearly saw it differently and when he realised he was still being recorded after explicitly telling the cameraman to stop, he lost his temper.
First, he called across, “You’re so clever, aren’t you? What a parasite you are. Just leave us alone, will you.”
And that was the point when May came over and appeared to swipe at the phone.
After the upsetting scene was shared online, fans rushed to support their idol, criticising the news team for intruding on a private meeting between the star and his fans – especially once they had been told to stop.
Queen and Adam Lambert will play major shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and the Gold Coast throughout February, following dates in New Zealand and Korea.
They will also headline the highly-publicised Fire Fight Australia charity concert on February 16 in Sydney, which will raise money for victims of the recent horrifying Australian bushfires.
