Brexit daily agenda: What time is John Bercow speaking today? What is happening today?

Brexit progress has stalled once again after Boris Johnson was forced to ask the EU for an extension over the weekend. The Prime Minister pulled the vote on his deal on Saturday after MPs approved the amendment from Sir Oliver Letwin.

What time is John Bercow speaking today?

The House of Commons will sit from 2.30pm today, where MPs will spend an hour on the withdrawal agreement.

Then at 3.30pm, Speaker John Bercow will make a statement – indicating how proceedings will continue from there.

The vote will give MPs a straight choice – back the deal without the legislation, or oppose the deal in principle.

Mr Bercow could rule against having another vote, claiming a second attempt amounts to the exact same motion being put to the House for debate within a few days – something he has ruled against before.

What is happening with Brexit today?

MPs delivered a major blow to the Prime Minister’s Brexit strategy on Saturday.

So today, Parliament must be given “a straight up-and-down vote” on the PM’s Brexit deal, No 10 said.

A spokesman added: “We cannot allow Parliament’s letter to lead to Parliament’s delay.”

But it will actually be up to Speaker John Bercow to decide whether to allow the vote.
