Brendan Rodgers has warned Liverpool that his record breaking Leicester side are aiming to chase them down.
The Foxes recorded their eighth straight victory, a club Premier League record, with a commanding 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday.
Jamie Vardy grabbed a brace, as he netted in the eighth league match in a row, with Kelechi Iheanacho and Jonny Evans also getting on the score sheet, either side of Jack Grealish’s consolation.
Rodgers’ men are eight points behind runaway leaders Liverpool at the top of the Premier League as they match them blow-for-blow, while they now boast a six point advantage over third placed Manchester City – who lost to Manchester United on Saturday.
And the Northern Irishman has vowed to continue pushing and fighting to keep their hat in the title race.
“I thought they were amazing, it is a historical day for the club and the performance warranted that.
“It really does mean something special, it puts the team in the history books of Leicester City.
“We had to work for it, it was a tough game and we played with a lot of quality and hunger. A brilliant win.
“We were very good, we played a diamond for a period of the game and worked well for us.
“With a better final pass we could have had one or two more goals. Villa got some encouragement just before half-time but we had to stay clam and keep doing what we were doing.
“We scored all types of goals today and kept going to the end and tried to keep scoring goals.
“We will just concentrate on playing as well as we can and with a performance level as high as we can.
“Wherever we are in the table we always look to chase the team in front of us, we look for us to keep pushing, keep fighting and keep developing. We will always do our best.”
