Brecon by-election: What time do polls open? When will we have results?

This by-election – called when a seat in the House of Commons becomes available outside of a general election – was triggered when MP Chris Davies was recalled. The Conservative MP was ousted after 10,005 of his constituents signed a recall petition following his conviction for a false expenses claim. Despite his conviction and guilty plea, the Conservatives have reselected him as the party’s candidate.

What time will we have results?

Results are expected around 3am on Friday morning.

This is one to watch – if the Tories lose the seat, their working majority in Parliament will be down to just one.

We will bring you live results and updates as they come in and throughout the course of Thursday night.

Who are the candidates?

  • Conservative: Chris Davies
  • Labour: Tom Davies
  • Brexit Party: Des Parkinson
  • Lib Dems: Jane Dodds
  • UKIP: Liz Phillips
  • Monster Raving Loony Party: Lady Lily The Pink

In the last general election in 2017, Chris Davies won with a 19.45 percent majority on a 73.8 percent turnout for Brecon and Radnorshire.
