Manchester United have confirmed they have agreed to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.
In a statement, the Red Devils said: ” Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Sporting Clube de Portugal for the transfer of Bruno Fernandes.
“The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms.
“A further announcement will be made in due course.”
Fernandes is set to put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal at Old Trafford as United finally seal a deal for their prime target of the January transfer window.
The club moved swiftly to tie up the move after late interest emerged from Barcelona.

United could end up paying as much as £67.8million for the midfielder – if all clauses are met – including Champions League qualification, appearances and personal milestones.
They are set to fork out an initial £46.6million.
Fernandes could make his debut for his new club when United face Wolves at Old Trafford on Saturday evening in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old struck an incredible 33 goals from 53 appearances for Sporting last term from the engine room, following that up with a further 15 strikes in 28 outings this season.
United were interested in Fernandes in the summer, and have moved to land the playmaker ahead of alternative targets such as Jack Grealish and James Maddison.
