Breaking: First Five Call of Duty League Franchise Owners Revealed


On its Q1 2019 earnings call today, Activision Blizzard Database-Link-e1521645463907 announced the first five cities and owners for the upcoming geolocated Call of Duty Database-Link-e1521645463907 League. The spots for Atlanta, Georgia; Dallas, Texas; New York, New York; Paris, France; and Toronto, Canada will be owned by Atlanta Esports Ventures, Envy Gaming Database-Link-e1521645463907, Sterling.VC Database-Link-e1521645463907, c0ntact Gaming, and OverActive Media Database-Link-e1521645463907, respectively.

“In each of the five founding franchises announced today, we are partnering with existing Overwatch League team owners who have first-hand experience of our esports vision and capabilities and recognize the scale of the opportunity for a global, city-based Call of Duty league,” said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick in a release. “We look forward to announcing more details around these cities and other team sales in the coming months.”

With this announcement, OverActive Media will become the only organization to own a spot in three major franchised leagues. The company also owns Splyce Database-Link-e1521645463907, which competes in the League of Legends European Championship Database-Link-e1521645463907.
