A BOY of seven who died for 15 minutes after a cardiac arrest was saved by his hero dad doing CPR.
Tommy Plant had collapsed at home after his heart stopped twice.
Desperate dad Jason, 42, kept him going with six minutes of heart massage.
Tommy’s brothers George, 17, Harry, 14, and Ben, ten, looked on in horror at the family home in Birmingham.
Telecoms worker Jason said: “The 999 operators talked me through the CPR.
“I was so scared it was unbelievable. Tommy wasn’t breathing.” Paramedics took the lad to Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital where his heart was restarted.
Jason added: “He technically died for 15 minutes.”
Tommy was in an induced coma for 72 hours and Jason and wife Alison, 41, were told he may not make it. Jason said: “They said his chances were incredibly slim. We were told, ‘He might not walk, talk or remember you’.”
Sixteen days later, Tommy was well enough to leave.
Jason said a cardiologist told him there was nothing to indicate that his son was at high risk of falling ill. He added: “It just shows anyone can have a cardiac arrest.”
