Boxing fans were in stitches when Tommy Fury was left red-faced when an attempt to hype the crowd spectacularly backfired.

Fury made a winning return to the ring on Saturday night on the undercard of Daniel Dubois’ heavyweight fight night in London.

It was a short appearance for Fury, who demolished Przemyslaw Binienda (2-27) in just 62 seconds.

The fight was a soft reintroduction for Fury after the Brit found fame on ITV’s Love Island during the summer.

Fury was pleased with his knockout performance and was interviewed at ringside after the fight.

The 20-year-old, however, might have misread the atmosphere inside the Copper Box Arena, asking the crowd: ‘Thank you to all these amazing fans who’ve turned out, what do you think?’

The response was dead silence and boxing fans mercilessly trolled Fury on social media for the amusing misstep.
