THE Tories vowed to impose 40 years of hurt on the SNP as Boris Johnson accused Nicola Sturgeon of trapping Scotland like a “caged lion” with her obsession for another independence vote.
Launching the Scottish Conservatives’ manifesto in Fife, the PM said only his party can save the United Kingdom.

He claimed Jeremy Corbyn isn’t “tough enough” to stand up to Ms Sturgeon’s demands for a second independence referendum if he needs her party’s support to form a government after the election.
Scottish Tory boss Jackson Carlaw suggested the SNP should be made to wait until 2054 for another shot at independence.
Ms Sturgeon has said her party will demand the second indy vote next year as the price for propping up a minority Labour government.
‘PARALYSING’ SCOTLAND
Mr Corbyn has insisted he will not agree to a referendum within the first two years of entering power, but suggested he could give the green light for one to take place after 2021.
Yesterday Mr Johnson accused the SNP boss of having “paralysed” Scotland with her demands for a second vote.
Turning on Mr Corbyn’s weak leadership, he warned: “The only way he could conceivably form a government is if he agrees to Nicola Sturgeon’s demands to have a second referendum on Scotland.
“And do you think he is really going to be in a position to refuse?
Tories to end rural ‘notspot’ scourge

THE PM will pledge to guarantee good mobile phone coverage to 95 per cent of the country starting within 100 days of a Tory majority win.
On a visit to the South West Boris Johnson will today lay out his £1billion plans to end to rural mobile blackspots by forcing the four main operators to pool phone masts.
He said: “We are determined that no part of the country is left behind.”
The party said just 66 per cent of the UK landmass has coverage for all four network operators.
The Tories have promised to increase this to at least 95 per cent.
They say their plan will dramatically improve life for millions by ending rural “notspots” by 2025.
The “shared rural network” would see new masts built and existing infrastructure shared between O2, Three, Vodafone and EE.
The party said this would ensure 4G service for all customers regardless of their provider, across almost all of the UK, bringing additional coverage to 280,000 homes and businesses and 16,000km of roads.
Operators will pay up to £530million to get rid of partially dead areas.
The Tories will add £500million to build infrastructure in rural areas not commercially viable.

Mr Johnson visited one of England’s most marginal seats yesterday — Norwich North in Norfolk — which the Tories won by just 507 votes in 2017.
He called at the International Aviation Academy at Norwich airport.
