Boris took a ferry from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight as he continued his media blitz to show the public he’s not afraid of public scrutiny.

And he’s still trying to distract attention from last week’s row with girlfriend Carrie.

He was snapped on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday wearing the same £5.99 pair from the British Museum showing King Ashurbanipal.

But it appeared he’d got dressed in a hurry as one was inside out.

On Monday night eagle-eyed fans observed he was wearing the same style socks – as he repeatedly refused to talk about the argument which saw cops called to his house.

And on Tuesday in an interview with talkRADIO he was wearing the colourful socks once again.

Aides insisted he has “multiple pairs of similar patterned socks”.

And now it appears that batch has run out, as Boris was seen today with plain old black ones on.

The pair haven’t been at the house since last week’s row, which has led to speculation that Boris is running out of fresh clothes.

Today Boris unveiled his plan for an Australian-style points system for immigration if he gets into No10 – a plan he’s wanted to implement for years.

Only people with enough points and skills will be able to come here to work.

And he gave an interview where he revealed he will sack anyone in his Cabinet that doesn’t back his promise to take Britain out of the EU by October 31.

Boris also said he would definitely beat Jeremy Hunt in a mud wrestle – but that’s not how he plans to get to No10.

WHAT IS ON BORIS JOHNSON’S SOCKS?

The would-be PM’s socks are thought to have a design showing King Ashurbanipal, purchased from the British Museum.

The pair of £5.99 historical socks show the man thought to be the last great ruler of the Assyrian empire.

At the time of King Ashurbanipal’s reign (669–c. 631 BC), Assyria was the largest empire in the world.

It stretched from Cyprus in the west to Iran in the east, and at one point even included Egypt.

Ashurbanipal was a popular king but was known for his cruelty to his enemies, and branded “ineffectual, effete and debauched”.
