Boris Johnson savages 'ruinous' Labour plans to start governing with 'economic crisis'

Boris Johnson was being quizzed by Sky News’ Sophy Ridge ahead of the general election next week. During the discussion, the Prime Minister admitted he was nervous and “fighting for every vote” ahead of the poll. He also attacked Labour’s “economically ruinous” plans for the country in a scathing rebuke.

He said: “I’m afraid Labour’s plans will be economically ruinous and every independent assessment says that.”

The Prime Minister added: “We’re talking about quantum differences and Labour normally ends their Government with an economic crisis, these guys would start with one.

“Now by putting up borrowing to 1.2 trillion, by putting up taxation on individual taxpayers by £2400, their plans would mean that people on as little as £20,000 year were paying £1000 more in tax, that cannot be right.”

Setting out his vision for immigration in the UK post-Brexit under a Tory Government, the Prime Minister said: “I particularly want to bare down on unskilled workers who have no job to come to. I think that is what has happened over the last couple of decades.

POLL: Will you desert your traditional party to vote tactically?

Mr Johnson went on to promise lower immigration if he wins power in an election on Thursday, but said he was not hostile to allowing foreigners to work and live in Britain overall.

He said: ”Numbers will come down because we’ll be able to control the system in that way.

“And what I don’t think is right is to have an uncontrolled and unlimited approach to that.”

“I’m not hostile to immigration. I’m a believer in allowing people to come to this country and I think if they have talents and they want to do things and make their lives in the UK and they can contribute to our country – fantastic.”
