Maria Bakalova was worried after Rudy Giuliani allegedly turned down a coronavirus test before shooting the scene in which her character appeared to seduce him in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.

The second cinematic instalment from Kaszakh funnyman Borat, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, 49, features American attorney and politician Rudy, 76.

In the flick, Bulgarian actress Maria, 24, plays teenager Tutar who was seen convincing the former Mayor of New York that she was a conservative reporter before leading him into a private hotel room and attempting to remove his microphone.

And the star was not only worried about having to convince Rudy to go with her to the bedroom, she was concerned for her health as it was claimed he had earlier refused to take a Covid test.

On her fears, she told GQ Hype: ‘There was a moment when I think, “Am I going to be able to ask that question?” Because if I asked, “Will you come with me in the bedroom?”, will you come? It’s a scary situation, as for a person who is being interviewed, why are you going there? Why are you lying there?

‘So I was freaking out when I was supposed to ask that question. And at the same time, this was after Coronavirus started. And we knew earlier that day that he refused to have a Covid test.’

She added: ‘Eventually we were like, ‘OK let’s do it. Let’s do it.’ But that was one of the things that Sacha asked me [was she OK to go ahead].

‘And I was like, “OK, let’s do it.”’

However, there was a definite upside to the project – she was allowed to spend a full day at the White House.

She said: ‘I spent a whole day at the White House and it was really impressive. It’s the White House! It’s beautiful.

‘I was with [famously Trump-supporting] One American News with reporter Chanel Rion and I went everywhere at the White House. Which is also kinda scary!

‘But somebody, I think, got suspicious from another media [outlet], wondering were these people at One American News bringing some people, and so then we had to leave.’
