Stella von Koskull is using her daily exercise time to give self-isolating neighbours something to read.

With the government saying we can only leave the house for a few essential reasons during the coronavirus lockdown, including some daily exercise (taking social distancing precautions), Stella wanted to make sure she multitasked to get some fresh air while helping others.

Described as the ‘book fairy’, Stella is spreading her own book collection around Putney, Barnes and Fulham and leaving them on doorsteps for people to pick up and enjoy.

Every day, the actor takes some books and goes for a cycle, stopping off at houses with people in quarantine along the way.

She plans to continue the service throughout the lockdown and hopes other people will follow her lead.

She said: ‘I have tonnes of books at home, I’m getting through this time by reading loads.

‘I’ve only done a few deliveries so far, but people love it and I think people are craving any kind of social interaction.’

She’s finding people to donate to using social media and then travels to their door and carries the books wearing gloves and a mask.

She added: ‘It is a time to be helping vulnerable, needy people who can’t go outside.

‘One positive thing that can come out of this is that communities can come together.

‘Hopefully I’m serving it in my little way and will inspire people to do the same thing.’
