Bolton Wanderers facing liquidation in High Court TODAY – but what is the likely outcome?

Wanderers staved off liquidation two weeks ago over an unpaid HMRC tax bill as Anderson’s lawyers argued that a deal to sell the club was close to completion.

The judge gave him a fortnight to complete the change of ownership – but nothing has since materialised.

Since that last court case the controversial Anderson has not paid any players or members of staff their March salaries – and not for the first time this season.

That has led to the first team squad striking over the last 48 hours.

Wanderers fans have also been banned from attending their next two Championship home matches against Ipswich and Middlesborough.

The Safety Advisory Group (SAG) issued a ‘prohibition notice’ meaning the safety certificate for the University of Bolton Stadium was withdrawn.

The EFL are still trying to investigate if the club will be able to fulfil those fixtures.

Bolton are back in the High Court this morning, not before 10.30am, where they are expected to argue that a deal to complete the sale has moved a step closer.

If there has been no progress the judge may rule to liquidate the Whites – a founder member of the Football League.

But according to the Bolton News, Gaspard Holdings Ltd, a local company in set up in Bolton, have claimed to have had an offer to buy the club accepted, which is a huge development.

“Constructive talks have taken place between Gaspard Holdings Ltd and Ken Anderson,” a spokesperson told the Bolton News.

“The company was set up specifically for the acquisition of Bolton Wanderers, it is a local business with strong connections to the Middle East and we are looking to complete the deal immediately.

“Our due diligence has been carried out and we are in a position to complete the deal within the next 48 hours.”

If proof of the deal can be shown in court today then a second adjournment is likely to be granted.

However, if not the consequences could be devastating.

Meanwhile, Anderson released some astonishing chairman’s notes yesterday where he claimed “the players have also only been paid late three times” and “it is not as if it is weeks late, is it?”

He also urged the players to get back to work – despite not getting paid to do so.
