Bobby Duncan's agent Saif Rubie banned by FA over sexist tweet and Adam Johnson post

Saif Rubie, the agent of former Liverpool youngster Bobby Duncan, has been banned for six weeks by the FA.

Rubie was in the headlines this summer as he launched a shocking social media outburst, claiming Liverpool had been bullying Duncan and had damaged his mental health.

He insisted the Premier League leaders had blocked a move for Duncan, who eventually moved on to Fiorentina at the end of the window.

The FA have confirmed Rubie has been handed a six-week ban and fined £10,000 – but the charge is related to two other social media posts.

Following England’s exit from the Women’s World Cup, Rubie tweeted: “Don’t worry lads they’re coming home’ – alongside a photograph of a sink full of dirty dishes.

The sexist post came almost a year after another tweet about former footballer Adam Johnson.

Former Manchester City and Sunderland winger Johnson was jailed for six years in 2016 for sexual activity with a schoolgirl.

In July 2018, he tweeted: “I think it is an utter disgrace that Adam Johnson got time in the first place. Who hasn’t made a mistake similar to his?”

The post was accompanied with three laughing emojis.

Liverpool rejected the allegations of Rubie outright but Duncan was allowed to move on to Fiorentina.

In his social media post, Rubie said: “‘This is not really dignified behaviour from a club with the rich history of Liverpool and one who one of their greatest ever players Steven Gerrard happens to be Bobby’s cousin.

“It’s a sad state of afford that a club such as a Liverpool can be allowed to get away with destroying the life of a young man such as Bobby.”

He has featured regularly for Fiorentina’s second string side, scoring three times already this season.
