Celebrating marine life from all over the world, Blue Planet Live will arrive on screens tonight. Episode one will air tonight, Sunday, March 23 at 8pm. The three remaining episodes will air over the course of the week on BBC One.

When does Blue Planet Live start on BBC One?

Blue Planet Live starts tonight, Sunday, March 23 on BBC One at 8pm.

The show will be broadcast live from three different locations, East Coast USA, the Bahamas and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

According to the BBC, the programme is taking place at “a crucial time for our oceans, dive deeper than ever before to witness first hand the wonders of and the challenges facing our blue planet”.

Who are the hosts of Blue Planet Live?

Blue Planet Live will be hosted by Steve Backshall, Liz Bonnin and Chris Packham.

Steve is best known for his high octane adventures on Deadly 60, the Lost Land Expeditions, and two of our other BBC live spectacles – Wild Alaska Live and Big Blue Live.

He has filmed all over the planet and knows how to get up close and personal with some of the world’s most elusive and intimidating species.

Liz is a highly qualified zoologist who has travelled the globe tracking down emerging wildlife stories and cutting-edge science.

She has also appeared on Wild Alaska Live and Big Blue Live.

Chris is famous for his encyclopedic knowledge of all things wildlife and has been a regular on Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch for the last decade.

How many episodes are in Blue Planet Live?

There are four episodes of Blue Planet Live all airing over the course of the week.

Episode 1: Sunday, March 24

In an exciting week of programmes, Blue Planet Live explores the health of our oceans.

Episode 2: Wednesday, March 27

The team continue to investigate the effect human impact has had on our marine eco system.

Episode 3: Thursday, March 28

How ocean traffic, over-fishing and noise pollution could have an impact on marine life.

Episode 4: Sunday, March 31

In the final programme of the series, we find out what the future holds for marine life.
