Beyonce and Jay Z are estimated to be worth a billion dollars but their daughter Blue Ivy doesn’t exactly walk around with wads of cash in her purse.
The eight-year-old attended an NBA basketball game at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday with her father Jay Z, and was spotted tightly clinging onto a blue purse throughout the night.
While it seemed as though Blue had her most treasured items in there, it turns out the youngster was travelling light after all.
When asked by a photographer ‘how much’ was in her purse, Blue hesitated for a moment before shaking the purse and replying: ‘Nothing. Nothing’s in there.’
Either she just really wanted to show off her purse or Blue was wise in not revealing how much she was carrying.
Clearly, she’s learned from the best.
Blue’s response was rare and possibly the first time the youngster has spoken to paparazzi, given how much her parents value their children’s privacy.
It had been quite a fun night for basketball fan Blue, who was also caught on camera getting starstruck by LA Lakers legend Lebron James.
In a clip taken after the Lakers’ game against the LA Clippers, Lebron is seen approaching Blue and Jay Z to greet them following his team’s win.
Blue jumps up and down and hides behind her father, clearly shy to meet the NBA icon.
After greeting Jay Z with a handshake, Lebron bends down and places both hands on Blue’s shoulder. Jay Z is then heard encouraging the youngster to ask Lebron a question.
Although the audio isn’t clear, it appears Blue asked for some kind of merchandise – believed to be a signed basketball – from the star player.
Lebron then says: ‘Do you have school on Monday?’ to which Blue nods. He then promises: ‘By the time you get out of school on Monday, you’ll have it.’
Beyonce and Jay Z could certainly afford to splurge on the coveted courtside seats after being valued as a billion-dollar couple last year.
In June, Forbes reported that Single Ladies hitmaker Beyonce was worth a staggering $400 million on her own, pushing their estimated combined net worth to $1.4 billion.
