Expect some major star power in Beyoncé’s upcoming visual album, “Black is King” – namely her oldest kiddo, Blue Ivy Carter.
The 8-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z made a cameo in the album’s latest trailer, shared to her mom’s Instagram account Wednesday night. Beaming, Blue wore an off-the-shoulder gown and a statement pearl necklace with her hair up in a bun and encompassed in a gold and pearl crown.
“To live without reflection for so long might make you wonder if you even truly exist,” Beyoncé narrates in the trailer before her song “My Power” begins playing atop visually stunning clips.
The visual album is heading to Disney+ at 3 a.m. EDT on July 31.
Other famous faces you can expect to see making an appearance: Jay-Z, Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Pharrell Williams, Kelly Rowland and Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson.
The film, which was in production for more than a year, shot in New York, Los Angeles, South Africa, West Africa, London and Belgium, according to a news release. The cast and crew includes creators from around the world.
“Black is King,” dubbed a “celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience,” features videos for the songs “Already,” “Brown Skin Girl,” “Mood 4 Eva” and “My Power.”

The visual album “reimagines the lessons of ‘The Lion King’ for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns,” says a news release from Disney and Parkwood Entertainment.
“The voyages of Black families, throughout time, are honored in a tale about a young king’s transcendent journey through betrayal, love and self-identity,” it added. “His ancestors help guide him toward his destiny, and with his father’s teachings and guidance from his childhood love, he earns the virtues needed to reclaim his home and throne.
“These timeless lessons are revealed and reflected through Black voices of today, now sitting in their own power. … The film highlights the beauty of tradition and Black excellence.”
“Black is King” follows closely on the heels of Beyoncé’s surprise Juneteenth track “Black Parade,” an anthem about Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody after a Minneapolis officer kneeled on his neck.
Written, directed and executive produced by Beyoncé, the new visual album is based on the music of “The Lion King: The Gift,” the album she curated last year for release alongside Disney’s photorealistic movie.
