Blizzcon 2019: When is Blizzcon and will Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 get release dates?

Blizzcon 2019 is set to be an interesting convention this year, with plenty of eSports events and announcements planned.

But on top of all the usual buzz is the news that Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 will be announced during the opening ceremony.

That means some serious gaming news is being primed for this week if the recent leaks prove true.

And it won’t just be news covering Overwatch and Diablo, but information for World of Warcraft, WoW Classic, Hearthstone and The WarCraft 3 Remaster project.

So when is Blizzcon and how long will fans be waiting for all this big news to be announced?

WHEN IS BLIZZCON 2019?

Blizzcon 2019 is a big gaming convention held by Blizzard in Anaheim, California, each year. The event itself caters for over 30,000 attendees and includes a ton of news regarding all the major Blizzard franchises.

Blizzcon 2019 has a start date set for Friday, November 1, 2019, kicking off with the opening ceremony.

This will include a message from leading Blizzard execs and will also feature the biggest news being shared during the convention.

The event lasts until the night of Saturday, November 2, usually ending with the big eSports finals and some kind of music celebration.

The Blizzcon start time has been listed as happening on Friday, November 1, at 9:30 am PST. For fans in the UK, that means a start time of 5:30pm, GMT.

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled to begin a little later at 11am PST, or 7pm GMT. And the good news is that even if you can’t be in the crowd for the opening ceremony, you can watch it at home.

The BlizzCon Virtual Pass gives you access to all the games panels being hosted by Blizzard throughout the weekend.

But while you have to pay to get a Virtual Ticket, you can watch the Blizzcon Opening Ceremony for free on YouTube.

“This year, everyone’s invited to watch the BlizzCon opening ceremony, all of the BlizzCon esports tournaments, and select developer panels—including the first four panels on the Mythic Stage immediately following the opening ceremony—completely free on BlizzCon.com and in the BlizzCon Mobile App,” a message from Blizzard explains.

“Tune in early for a special BlizzCon pre-show at 10:30 a.m. PDT on Friday, and get ready for the opening ceremony live at 11 a.m. PDT.

“As with the last couple of years, segments of the opening ceremony will take place on multiple stages, with live presenters on the Mythic Stage (Hall D), World of Warcraft Tournament Stage (Hall C), and Hearthstone Tournament Stage (Hall B). The opening ceremony will be simulcast on screens throughout the convention centre as well, so you’re sure to find a great seat wherever you are.”

So everyone will be able to find out about the big announcements, with some big news expected.

OVERWATCH 2 AND DIABLO 4 NEWS?

Several leaks have surfaced this year suggesting that Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 will be formally announced during Blizzcon 2019.

Fans have been expecting Diablo news for years, and 2019 looks set to be the time we learn more about the upcoming sequel.

Fans shouldn’t expect a full release date to be shared during Blizzcon, but it is possible we might learn what year it is being launched. Overwatch 2 is another matter, with plenty of leaked information floating about before the big expo.

According to a new leak from ESPN, Overwatch 2 will be playable during Blizzcon 2019 and will include new maps and modes to try out.

PvE will be the main focus of Overwatch 2 during Blizzcon, but fans will also hear about the new Push Mode coming to Overwatch.

No mention of Diablo 4 or an Overwatch 2 release date was revealed with this latest leak. But other news has surfaced that suggests the next Diablo game will also be revealed during Blizzcon’s Opening Ceremony.
