BLACKPINK’s How You Like That video becomes biggest premiere ever in YouTube history

BLACKPINK have returned with their new song How You Like That – and its music video has become the biggest premiere in YouTube history.

The K-pop girl group have finally released the lead single for their upcoming debut album following a year-long hiatus – and to be fair, it’s quite a banger.

Alongside the song, the members also simultaneously dropped the official music video, with about 1.65 million fans across the world all tuning in to watch the clip as it was unveiled on the video-sharing site, according to the BBC.

The video has since broken a record set by fellow K-pop boyband BTS back in February with their single On, which was watched by 1.54 million people.

In the How You Like That video, we see the BLACKPINK girls – Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo and Rose – in a multitude of a settings, from a magical rainforest and ice palace, to an Egyptian style market – with Lisa channelling her inner Cleopatra in a bejewelled bra and flared trousers.

Towards the end of the clip, the song’s tempo changes as the group show us their best moves in an epic dance break.

There is a lot to take in from just three minutes of footage, but it’s left fans on Twitter with plenty to talk about – with many praising the video’s climax.

‘The iconic dance break literally broke me apart omfg THEY REALLY WENT F*** THIS S*** AFTER 18 MONTHS IT’S ABOUT TIME TO BE BACK B***HES!!!!!’ one super excited fan wrote.

Sharing a clip of the dance, another stunned viewer added: ‘They said, “bring out the boss b***h” then changed hairstyles 50 times. We stan.’

‘#BlackPink #HowYouLikeThat music video is insane,’ another tweeted. ‘Their outfits and their hair styles are on point.’

In a press conference, the BLACKPINK members revealed that How You Like That is the first release in their ‘three-step comeback’ leading up to the release of their first full length album, which is expected to drop in September.

Speaking about the message they wanted to get across in the new single, member Jisoo explained: ‘This might seem large-scale, but I want to deliver a positive and hopeful message.

‘We sang to give the message of not being daunted by dark situations and to not lose the confidence and strength to stand up again.’

Rose also gave the group’s fans – also known as Blinks – a preview of what to expect from the song’s performances.

‘A cat’s charm is being calm normally but being able to transform completely,’ she said.

‘Our song is also calm in the beginning, but the way it transforms is similar to a cat.’

BLACKPINK’s How You Like That is now available to download and stream.
