Black Widow star Florence Pugh has revealed that she was thrown in at the deep end, with the actress having to fight her co-star Scarlett Johansson on her first day of filming.

Florence, who stars as Russian spy Yelena Belova alongside Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff, recalled the pretty unusual introduction, revealing that the stunt team on the film were keen for the actresses to get in on the action.

‘It’s amazing how they create fights you are capable of doing if you are up for it,’ the 25-year-old explained.

‘That was so exciting because you get to be really shoving Scarlett Johansson against the kitchen counter, which was the first day I worked with her. We’d only met a week previous so it was like, “Hi! I’m going to beat you now,”‘ she added to The Sun.

‘But it was great and we fell in love during that fightbecause it was just so messy. It was cool.’

The upcoming Marvel film will follow the assassin turned Avenger in the days after Captain America: Civil War, with the plot being kept very much under wraps.

While Natasha is one of the longest-running characters in the MCU, Scarlett has revealed that she feels it’s her time to leave the franchise, leaving us all a little heartbroken.

The 36-year-old told ComicBook.com: ‘Honestly, I feel like it’s always, it feels great to leave a party when it’s still raging and I think that this film feels very much like it’s alive and fresh and powerful and I feel really pleased with it.

‘I feel really happy with the work that we’ve done for this decade of time, and you know, it’s bittersweet to say, “Goodbye”, but if you love something, you need to set it free!’

Meanwhile, the star also spoke out against the sexualisation of Natasha/Black Widow in the Second Iron Man film.

The Hollywood star spoke of how the character was ‘talked about like a piece of ass’ during a chat with Collider.

She said: ‘All of that is related to that move away from the kind of hyper-sexualisation of this character and, I mean, you look at Iron Man 2 and while it was really fun and had a lot of great moments in it, the character is so sexualised, you know?’

Scarlett said: ‘Maybe I even would have, you know, my own self-worth was probably measured against that type of comment or, like a lot of young women, you come into your own and you understand your own self-worth.

‘It’s changing now. Now people, young girls, are getting a much more positive message, but it’s been incredible to be a part of that shift and be able to come out the other side and be a part of that old story, but also progress.’

Black Widow is released on July 9.
