Black Widow movie cast adds new Hellboy David Harbour

The Black Widow movie is starting to take shape as it approaches its production start date in June and it’s just added another cast member: Stranger Things and Hellboy star David Harbour. The latest actor to be a part of two comic book universes at once, Harbour will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a mystery role, according to THR.

While not much has been revealed about Black Widow, reports suggest that the movie will take place before Natasha Romanoff’s original appearance in Iron Man 2, meaning that the film could actually be a prequel to much of the rest of the MCU. The movie will allegedly take place in the early 2000s, presumably either during the character’s time as an assassin for the KGB or her early days as a spy for SHIELD. Regardless, this sounds like another chance to see Samuel L. Jackson in action as Nick Fury. (We really enjoyed him in Captain Marvel, which was also a prequel.)

Cate Shortland (Lore) is set to direct from a script by Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel).

As far as Harbour’s involvement goes, we don’t yet know how things are going to line up for his character. But we’ll make sure to keep you updated as we hear more.

Harbour is set to make his most high-profile big-screen appearance in this month’s Hellboy, which reboots the story of the demon-turned-paranormal-investigator with a whole new cast and plot. In this new take on the character, which was directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent) and counted on a close collaboration with Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, Hellboy faces off against the Blood Queen (Milla Jovovich), a character from the comics who could spell the hero’s very doom as well as a fiery armageddon for Earth. Naturally, we’ll get to watch Hellboy punch, shoot, and curse his way out of this mess somehow.

More on Black Widow as it arrives.
