Bindi Irwin wants to make her wedding day extra special by making sure her late father Steve Irwin is a ‘big part’ of her nuptials.
Australian star Steve (known as the Crocodile Hunter) was killed by a stingray barb back in 2006, when Bindi was just eight years old.
He was filming for a documentary when he was fatally pierced in the heart by the barb and is survived by his wife Terri Iriwn and their two children Bindi, 21, and Robert, 15.
Bindi is currently planning her wedding to her long-term boyfriend of six years Chandler and has told Us Weekly that she wants to incorporate dad Steve’s memory into the day.
‘I really wanted Dad to be a big part of the day, so I’m excited to be able to incorporate him throughout the ceremony and the reception, and I think it’s going to be really special because I feel like his spirit lives on in us,’ she told the publication.
‘It’s going to be a celebration of family and friends, our wildlife, and I think that night, it’ll be about our lives together and the joining of families. It’s going to be beautiful.’
Bindi is set to wed Chandler at Australia Zoo in 2020 and revealed her brother Robert has been having a huge input in the couple’s wedding plans.
Apparently, Robert is keen for Idris Elba to DJ at the reception and thinks the actor would be a ‘good option’ for entertainment, after Idris got behind the decks at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.
Idris DJ’ing would be pretty cool, no?
Robert is reportedly walking Bindi down the aisle when she gets married and she is set to televise her wedding on her family’s reality series on Crikey! It’s The Irwins.
Bindi announced her engagement in July, after Chandler proposed to her on her 21st birthday at (yep, you guessed it) Australia Zoo – located in Queensland.
