Billie Eilish has spoken about the battle she has to love her own body, saying she feels pressurised by what she sees on social media to look a certain way.

The singer, 19, claims societal pressure to look good is unhealthy and that idealised beauty is toxic.

She told the Guardian: ‘I see people online, looking like I’ve never looked and immediately I am like, oh my God, how do they look like that?

‘I know the ins and outs of this industry, and what people actually use in photos, and I actually know what looks real can be fake. Yet I still see it and go, oh God, that makes me feel really bad.

‘And I mean, I’m very confident in who I am, and I’m very happy with my life… I’m obviously not happy with my body but who is?’

The star made the remarks in the interview which follows the release of her album Happier Than Ever.

The pop star explained how she’d talked with her father in the past about how people can be ‘hyperaware and self-conscious’, going as far to restrict their movements in a bid not to walk a certain way or let their hair fall out of place, which she describes as ‘such a loss of joy and freedom’.

Billie has previously spoken out about her choice to wear baggy clothes in a bid to avoid scrutiny of her body.

Earlier this year she hit out at people who seemingly praised her for embracing her natural appearance after she wore a form-fitting top.

The star was seen wearing a tank top while out in Los Angeles in October rather than her usual loose attire.

At the time, the singer, 19, went for a casual look as she stepped out in California in the top and a pair of shorts.

And she has now said she was actually ‘really offended’ that people were impressed with her actions.

She told Vogue: ‘It made me really offended when people were like, “Good for her for feeling comfortable in her bigger skin.” Jesus Christ?! Good for me? F**k off!’

She added: ‘The more the internet and the world care about somebody that’s doing something they’re not used to, they put it on such a high pedestal that then it’s even worse.’
