The Billboard Music Awards have been postponed.

The annual awards show will not go ahead this year as the coronavirus pandemic continues around the world.

The event, hosted once again by Kelly Clarkson, was due to take place in Las Vegas on 29 April but has been pushed back to a currently-unspecified date.

A statement from organisers said: ‘In accordance with the current guidelines set forth by national and local health officials and in order to ensure the health and safety of our artists, fans, guests and staff – we are postponing the Billboard Music Awards.

‘For more than two decades, the Billboard Music Awards has honoured the best in music based on the Billboard charts, and we look forward to celebrating the incredible artists who topped those charts over the last year.

‘Dick Clark Productions and NBC will announce a new date and venue for the show in the near future.’

The pandemic has heavily impacted the entertainment industry with the Met Gala also being called off this year.

Films such as No Time To Die, Mulan and Black Widow have had to move their release dates.

Meanwhile work on television shows Lord of the Rings, The Witcher and Lucifer have come to a halt.
