Bill Turnbull seen in new video as he gives followers important prostate cancer message

Bill Turnbull, 65, has appeared in a new video for Prostate Cancer UK, urging people to check their own risk factor. The former BBC Breakfast presenter was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer back in 2017 and is an ambassador for the charity.

Bill retweeted the video earlier today from Prostate Cancer UK’s official Twitter page.

In the short clip, he said: “I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in later 2017.

“At the time I had no idea just how widespread the disease is.

“That’s why I really want you and your loved ones to take this simple, online risk check now.”

The video is all about raising awareness about their risk checker during times of Covid.

This urges people to check whether they might be at higher risk by asking for their age, if their family has had prostate cancer and their ethnicity.

The website reads: “It’s the most common cancer in men, but most men with early prostate cancer don’t have symptoms. So are you at risk?”

According to the charity, around one in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime.

In another post for the charity back in February, Bill spoke candidly about living with the disease.

He also revealed how his wife Sarah McCombie, known as Sesi, helps him.

He said: “Some days, I think ‘I don’t want to do this anymore’.

“On those bad days, she reminds me things will get better.”

Bill retweeted this from the official Prostate Cancer UK Twitter at the time, adding his own sweet message.
