BGT’s Simon Cowell takes cruel swipe at ‘jealous’ David Walliams over comedy act

There was a moment of tension on the BGT judging panel tonight as David Walliams and Simon Cowell went head to head.

It all kicked off when Aussie comedy act The Nelson Twins took to the stage, leaving the audience in stitches.

The double act rose to fame after appearing on Australia’s Got Talent back in 2012.

Singer Danni Minogue was smitten by their sense of humour on the show and predicted they’d go far in their careers.

Proving her right, they made a stellar debut on the Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions stage, appearing in matching yellow jumpers and jeans.

In their act, they made jibes against the royal family, joked about their long hair and beards, and chatted about their lives as twins.

At one point they made a mean dig against David Walliams, and suggested his Little Britain co-star Matt Lucas was the “talented one”.

Judging by the peels of laughter erupting through Wembley stadium, the brothers were a surefire hit with the crowd.

But one viewer seemed a little peeved by their success – David Walliams struggled to crack a smile throughout.

Catching on, Simon pointed out that the 48-year-old comic “hates to see” other comedians doing well onstage.

Pointing at David’s mug, he said: “There was a point where it was like he’d just eaten a lemon.”

He added: “David doesn’t like other comedians to do well in life.”

Luckily, David managed to accept defeat graciously, saying: “The two of you together is absolute dynamite.”

Before joking: “I like nothing more than seeing other people succeed doing comedy.”

BGT: The Champions continues next Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
