‘Better Call Saul’ Cooks Up Clever Cinnabon Spot for Season Five Premiere

The Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul will return for its fifth season with a special two-night premiere, February 23rd and 24th.

The first episode will air Sunday the 23rd at 10 p.m. ET on AMC, while the second episode will debut Monday the 24th at 9 p.m. ET. The rest of the season will broadcast Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.

To mark the show’s return, AMC unveiled a new teaser, which begins with a closeup of one of Saul Goodman’s business cards, promising “Speedy Justice For You!” The camera then pans out to reveal the cards being clutched by a handcuffed prisoner.

The announcement of the new season was also accompanied by a cheeky teaser from one of Better Call Saul‘s unique brand partners, Cinnabon. The partnership dates back to a famous scene in the penultimate episode of Breaking Bad when Saul tells Walter White that, after his life of crime, his best case scenario is to land a job managing a Cinnabon in Omaha, Nebraska.

Better Call Saul picked up that thread in its first episode, which featured Saul — now known as “Gene” — working at said Cinnabon in Omaha. The show then jumped back to tell Saul’s story from before the events of Breaking Bad, although it’s repeatedly returned to that “present” in Omaha throughout its run.

On Twitter, Cinnabon tweeted what appeared to be a generic corporate video of a worker prepping a batch of cinnamon buns. But a close look reveals a name tag with the name “Gene” on it, and the clip came with the sly caption, “The end of the year is approaching and it has us feeling all the feels! We baked up some archive footage of our Omaha bakery grand opening from February 23. Enjoy a walk down memory lane!”

The fifth season of Better Call Saul will feature 10 episodes in total. The show stars Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks, Michael Mando, Giancarlo Esposito, Patrick Fabian and Tony Dalton.
