Bette Midler is on board for the Hocus Pocus sequel and Halloween just got a whole lot better.

The 73-year-old actress starred alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy in the classic Disney Halloween movie, which follows a group of witches living in modern day Salem.

Earlier in October, fans were overjoyed to hear that a TV movie reboot is in the works at new streaming service Disney+, with screenwriter Jen D’Angelo being tasked with the job of getting the OG Sanderson sisters involved.

But it seems like the job might be easier than we thought, as iconic actress Bette, who played Winifred Sanderson, is keen to return to the role. Eek!

‘Oh my goodness me. Oh I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse,’ Bette joked to Entertainment Tonight.

‘We wanna fly again. I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is of course one of my favourite characters.’

24 years after the film was released in 1993, Better revealed that fans still approach her about the cult classic movie.

She shared: ‘I have met people, I’ve met grown-up people, like 40-year-olds, 50-year-olds, who say: “Oh I remember that! ‘Hocus Pocus’! I was brought up on that.” It’s so mortifying ’cause I still look 35.

‘I can’t wait to read the script. We’re gonna see what happens.’

Midler also explained that when she and her co-stars Kathy and SJP have got together over the years they have often discussed their hopes for a future sequel.

‘We actually talk about it whenever we see each other,’ Bette said. ‘We laugh, we say, “Oh, wouldn’t it be great if?” Because all of us had pretty much the same experience on it.’

We’re crossing our fingers for this one.
