Best Christmas light shows finally announced and tickets selling fast – how to get


Light shows are a highlight of the winter, and they’re already being announced. Britons who want to be prepared can already start marking their calendars. Tickets are already selling fast, so to avoid disappointment, booking well in advance is recommended. With longer nights come brilliant light shows and trails all over the country.

Lightopia
Taking place in Heaton Park in Manchester, Lightopia will be on from November 18 to January 3, 2022.

The illuminated trail will have multi-sensory interactive lights, lanterns and installations.

The award-winning event will also feature light installations, mythical creatures and a magic circus display.

Tickets are £20 in advance or £22 on the day for adults and £13 in advanced and £15 on the day for children. Under two years old go free, but a ticket is needed.

The Lanterns at Chester Zoo
From November 12 to December 23, Chester Zoo will be transformed.
Britons can expect colourful lanterns, spectacular costumed characters and Christmas scenes.

Tickets start from £13 for adults and £11 for children and can be purchased on the Chester Zoo website.

Christmas at Kew
The light trail at Kew Gardens in London can be visited from November 17 to January 9.

Dancing reflections, sparkling tunnels, fire garden and trees decked out in light will lead visitors to the light display at Palm House.

Tickets start from £21.50 and can be purchased on the Kew Gardens website.

Leonardslee Illuminated
The event takes place between November 25 and December 22.

Britons will be able to explore the light trail from November 25 to 28, December 2 to 5, December 9 to 12 and December 15 to 22.

There will also be funfair rides and a Christmas market.

Adult tickets are £18, it’s £10 for under 16s and free for infant aged two and under. Tickets can be purchased on the Leonardslee Illuminated website.

Christmas at Delamere Forest
On from November 26 to December 31, Britons can look forward to dragonflies, singing trees and shimmering reflections scattered throughout the forest.

Tickets are £19.50 for adults and £13.50 for children, with infant aged two and under going free.

Britons can purchase tickets on the Christmas at Delamere Forest website.

Christmas at Blenheim Palace
Blenheim Palace is going all out from November 19 to January 2, 2022.

The event will feature an illuminated trail, the story of the Nutcracker told throughout the palace’s state rooms, and a Christmas market.

Combined tickets are £50 for adults and £30 for children, with infant aged two and under going free.

Tickets can be purchased on the Christmas at Blenheim website.

National Trust Trails

National Trust properties all over the country are set to be decked out in brilliant lights.

Tickets vary in price depending on whether Britons are members of the National Trust or not, and whether they buy them on the day or in advance.

Tickets can be purchased on each of the Ignite at or Christmas at events’ pages.

Christmas at Dunham Massey is on from November 19 to January 2, 2022.
Christmas at Belton is on from November 25 to January 2, 2022.
Christmas at Stourhead from November 26 to January 2, 2022.
Christmas at Temple Newsam from November 26 to January 2, 2022.
Christmas at Killerton is on from November 26 to January 2, 2022.
Christmas at Wimpole is on from November 26 to January 2, 2022.
Christmas at Gibside is on from November 26 to January 2, 2022.
Christmas at Kingston Lacy is on from December 3 to January 2, 2022.
