Ben Stiller has passed on his ‘deepest condolences’ to Melissa Etheridge after her son Beckett died.

Melissa was left ‘heartbroken’ after 21-year-old Beckett died on Wednesday following a battle with opioid addiction.

In the wake of the tragic news, Ben, 54, tweeted the Grammy winner: ‘Sending love and deepest condolences to @metheridge in this incredibly hard time.’

The Zoolander star – whose actor father Jerry Stiller passed away earlier this week – was replying to Melissa’s devastating statement about Beckett’s death.

The 58-year-old singer had written: ‘Today I joined the hundreds of thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction.

‘My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today. He will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends.’

She went on: ‘My heart is broken. I am grateful for those who have reached out with condolences and I feel their love and sincere grief.’

‘We struggle with what else we could have done to save him, and in the end we know he is out of the pain now.’

Melissa concluded: ‘I will sing again, soon. It has always healed me.’

The Black Velvet singer has a 23-year-old daughter with Julie Cypher – whom she split with in 2000 – named Bailey.

Melissa also has 13-year-old twins, Miller and Johnnie with Tammy Lynn Michaels.

Bailey and Beckett were both conceived through artificial insemination, with the sperm donor later revealed to be singer David Crosby.
