Ben Stiller rumoured to be filming scenes for Fast & Furious 9

The Fast And The Furious franchise has starred famous faces as diverse as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Helen Mirren, so no cast announcements really surprise us anymore.

But adding in a megastar months before the film is due to be released? That is quite the move.

It has been claimed that Ben Stiller has signed up to star in Fast & Furious 9, or F9 in the States, just three months before it hits cinemas.

According to Page Six, the 54-year-old is due to begin shooting scenes for the action blockbuster ‘soon’, meaning Blue Steel could be all up in the franchise.

Stiller made his name in comedies like There’s Something About Mary, Zoolander, Meet The Parents and Dodgeball, while he has also done family films like Night At The Museum and dramas including The Royal Tenenbaums and The Meyerowitz Stories.

However, he’s not exactly known for action movies, so Fast & Furious 9 is a pretty sideways move.

F9 is, you guessed it, the ninth film in the Fast and The Furious franchise, and will see Oscar winners Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron both return as Magdalene Shaw and Cipher respectively.

Vin Diesel is back as Dominic Toretto, while Michelle Rodriguez (Letty), Tyrese Gibson (Roman), Ludacris (Tej), Jordana Brewster (Mia) and Nathalie Emmanuel (Ramsey) also return for the installment.

John Cena joins the cast as Jakob Toretto, Dom and Mia’s brother, and the trailer revealed that Sung Kang (Han Lue) Lucas Black (Sean Boswell) and Jason Tobin (Earl) are also returning to the franchise.

If the Stiller rumours are true, he will be joined in undisclosed roles by MMA fighter Francis Ngannou, Peaky Blinders star Finn Cole, rapper Ozuna and Vinnie Bennett, while Cardi B will play Leysa in the blockbuster.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Stiller’s rep for comment.

Fast & Furious 9 is in cinemas 22 May.
