Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner look like they have co-parenting down to a fine art, as the pair reunited to take their son to a birthday party this week.

The pair were seen smiling and joking with their eight-year-old son, Samuel, as they headed to a friend’s party.

Of course, they didn’t come empty handed as Ben was seen getting a large gift, wrapped in black and white spotted paper, out of the car for the lucky recipient.

After dropping Samuel off at the party in Brentwood, Los Angeles, Ben and Jennifer, both 47, were photographed deep in conversation as they waited by a wall.

The couple also share two older daughters, Violet, 14, and Seraphina, 11, and although they are no longer together, they share parenting duties.

Ben and Jennifer married in 2005, and they split after 10 years of marriage, with their divorce being finalised in 2018.

Ben recently opened up about how his divorce was the ‘biggest regret of his life’, telling Good Morning America: ‘I never thought that I was gonna get divorced. I didn’t want to get divorced.

‘I didn’t want to be a divorced person. I really didn’t want to be a split family with my children.

‘And it upset me because it meant I wasn’t who I thought I was. And that was so painful and so disappointing in myself.’

He has also been open about his alcoholism and the impact that has had on his children, explaining to People: ‘A lot of the things that you learn in the process of dealing with addiction are good life lessons anyways. Be honest, take responsibility for your mistakes and help other people.

‘Kids are resilient. They appreciate the truth. Kids, if you’re honest and open with them, can forgive failings and setbacks, and they want to love you and respect you. That’s my approach to fatherhood.

‘I’ve talked to my kids pretty honestly about tough times. I try to be honest with them and say the most important thing is to be open and honest about how you’re feeling and when you’re not feeling good, to say “this is difficult for me” and to reach out to their parent and teachers.’
