Ben Affleck has acknowledged he had a ‘slip’ with his sobriety, but won’t let it ‘derail’ him.

The 47-year-old sparked concern when he was seen stumbling after the Unicef Masquerade ball at La Peer Hotel in West Hollywood on Saturday night.

Footage acquired by TMZ saw Ben, wearing a mask, appearing unsteady and falling backwards while leaving the party, catching himself on a car before leaving with a female companion.

Now, the Argo star has spoken out on the night, acknowledging that his sobriety is something he has to continuously work on.

The dad-of-three told TMZ: ‘Well you know it happens, it’s a slip but I’m not going to let it derail me.’

Ben did not answer a reporter who asked if he would be re-entering rehab.

The Oscar winner was pictured arriving at his ex Jennifer Garner’s home in Brentwood, California, wearing a grey jumper and jeans and carrying an iced coffee.

He was seen smiling as he spent time with Jen, 47, daughter Seraphina, 10, and seven-year-old son Samuel.

The former couple are also parents to 13-year-old Violet.

A source told Metro.co.uk that Ben is continuing to work on his sobriety everyday, following a rehab stint in August 2018 when he received treatment for alcoholism.

The insider explained: ‘He continues to contend with this disease and is doing so very publicly.

‘While he works very hard at this, everyday is a new battle. Sobriety is not something that just happens and everyday is a new battle.’

In August, Ben was said to have celebrated one year of sobriety after his ex-wife Jennifer pushed him to seek help for his addiction issues.

Last Octiber, the Justice League star made the unprecedented move of addressing his sobriety in an Instagram post.

He wrote: ‘This week I completed a forty day stay at a treatment centre for alcohol addiction and remain in outpatient care. The support I have received from my family, colleagues and fans means more to me than I can say.

‘It’s given me the strength and support to speak about my illness with others.

‘Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment. It is a full-time commitment. I am fighting for myself and my family. So many people have reached out on social media and spoken about their own journeys with addiction. To those people, I want to say thank you.’

The actor added: ‘With acceptance and humility, I continue to avail myself with the help of so many people and I am grateful to all those who are there for me. I hope down the road I can offer an example to others who are struggling.’
