For the last month, so much buzz has been building around Bella Hadid‘s increasingly blonde hair and how much the lighter look made her look even more like big sister and fellow supermodel Gigi Hadid. And while Bella finally gave us a clear look at just how light she went with an Instagram selfie last week, the MTV Video Music Awards have given us a glance at the sisters together in public as blondes for the first time.
Cameras captured Gigi and Bella leaving an apartment in New York City and then on the VMAs red carpet, both sporting dirty-blonde looks. Gigi wore her long hair in loose waves with a side part, which was air-dried with Biolage Airdry Glotion, while Bella was seen in a high ponytail with slickly side-swept bangs. And maybe it’s just how tightly it’s pulled back, but Bella’s hair doesn’t look quite as blonde as it has been looking in other recent photos — at least in the first few inches from the roots — perhaps because it’s a bit saturated with Biolage Gelee Styler for hold. That said, the length of her ponytail is decidedly as blonde as Gigi’s hair, though a slightly warmer shade.
Hair colour wasn’t the only thing the sisters decided to match. Both outfits made up of shades of beige and tan, almost as if they wanted to pick up on their blonde hair. Gigi wore a boned tube top and trousers, while Bella wore a ruched dress with an open midriff and suspender-like halter straps. They also both wore nude-toned makeup, with Gigi’s eyes surrounded by golden shimmer and Bella going for slightly more copper tones in her eyeshadow and lip gloss.
We can’t wait to see if both take their matching blondes through to Fashion Week.
