Bebe Rexha hits back at a troll who said she ‘needs to lose weight’

Bebe Rexha has been very vocal about her relationship with her own body image and her journey towards self-acceptance so it’s no surprise that when a troll came for her on Instagram, she taught them she clapped back.

The singer behind monster hits, Meant To Be and I’m a Mess, was forced to defend herself on a photo she posted backstage at The Ellen Show where she was working thigh high boots and a cut-out gown with the caption, “I’ve always wanted to do an Ellen solo performance and doing it for an empowering song was amazing. I’m so grateful. #YouCantStopTheGirl.”

However, whilst Bebe was recording a key moment in her career, the singer was subjected to abuse by one troll who said, “Wow… you need to lose weight.”

Bebe didn’t waste any time in taking the troll down and fired back by commenting, “no you need to be accepting and work on your own self-hate.”

The Instagram exchange comes after Bebe took to Instagram earlier this year to hit back at designers who refused to dress her because she was not sample size. In the post Bebe took serious issue with the fashion industry’s apparent sizeism saying, “I finally get nominated at the Grammys and it’s like the coolest thing ever. A lot of times, artists will go and talk to designers and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet, like you’ll go to any big designer,” the singer said in a video.

“So, I have my team hit out a lot of designers, and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big… If a size 6/8 is too big, I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t wanna wear your fucking dresses.” She continued: “That’s crazy. You’re saying that all the women size 8 and up are not beautiful and can’t wear your dresses?”

Bebe continued to say, “I’m sorry, I had to get this off my chest. If you don’t like my fashion style or my music that’s one thing. But don’t say you can’t dress someone that isn’t a runway size. We are beautiful any size! Small or large! Anddddd My size 8 ass is still going to the Grammys.”

We are totally here for Bebe’s clap back and let’s hope that one day we won’t have trolls littering social media making comments without any thought for the person behind the post they are trolling.
